Each May we have a trip to Godstone Farm with our 3 and 4 year old children; nursery is closed for all children on this day. We had a lot of fun, and it was the first farm visit for many children which was very exciting. The children arrived and we were blessed with some sunshine! After checking all of the children in and making sure we all had sun cream and a hat on, we made our way to the entrance.
Our guide was friendly and helpful and one of our first stops was to see some of the farm animals. We had the chance to hold and pet some of them too, including a 100 year old tortoise called George! There were also chickens, bunnies and guinea pigs to hold, and we saw some really big pigs. Other animals that the children loved to see were the goats, horses, and sheep. As part of our visit we got to learn about how we can best look after animals, and the kind of things that certain animals like to eat. The children showed a lot of fascination in learning about this and asked lots of questions.
After our lunch we had the chance to play in the park at the farm, which is always a big hit with the children. We got ready to go home, after lot sof fun and learning. Hopefully the children slept well that night as they had been such busy bees!
We are looking forward to our trip next year already!
